Title: | Lumbar plexus schwannoma causing recurrent syncope. | Austin Authors: | Liu, David Shi Hao ;Brazenor, Graham;Chu, Peter;Danne, Peter | Affiliation: | Department of Surgery, Austin Hospital, Level 8, 145 Studley Street, Heidelberg, Victoria 3084, Australia | Issue Date: | 25-Aug-2012 | Publication information: | Journal of Clinical Neuroscience 2012; 19(11): 1594-6 | Abstract: | Retroperitoneal schwannomas are rare and present non-specifically. They usually manifest secondary to their compressive effects on adjacent structures. We describe a patient who presented with recurrent syncope resulting from a large retroperitoneal schwannoma stretching the inferior vena cava and compromising venous return. We also discuss the salient aspects of preoperative investigations leading to definitive diagnosis and surgery. | Gov't Doc #: | 22925417 | URI: | https://ahro.austin.org.au/austinjspui/handle/1/11551 | DOI: | 10.1016/j.jocn.2012.03.018 | Journal: | Journal of Clinical Neuroscience | URL: | https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/22925417 | Type: | Journal Article | Subjects: | Female Humans Lumbosacral Plexus Middle Aged Neurilemmoma.complications.pathology.surgery Neurosurgical Procedures.methods Recovery of Function Retroperitoneal Neoplasms.complications.pathology.surgery Syncope.etiology Tomography, X-Ray Computed Vena Cava, Inferior.pathology |
