Title: | Steady state plasma [3H]-noradrenaline kinetics in quadriplegic chronic spinal cord injury patients. | Austin Authors: | Krum, Henry;Brown, Douglas J;Rowe, P R;Louis, William J ;Howes, L G | Affiliation: | Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics Unit, Austin Hospital, Heidelberg, Victoria, Australia | Issue Date: | 1-Aug-1990 | Publication information: | Journal of Autonomic Pharmacology; 10(4): 221-6 | Abstract: | 1. Steady state plasma noradrenaline kinetics were measured in eight male quadriplegic patients and in eight age and sex matched controls. 2. Plasma noradrenaline levels were significantly lower in quadriplegic patients compared to controls. Noradrenaline spillover rate was markedly reduced in quadriplegics compared to controls while noradrenaline clearance was similar in both groups. 3. Noradrenaline kinetics in quadriplegic patients differ from peripheral autonomic neuropathy patients where reductions in both the spillover and clearance of noradrenaline are present. | Gov't Doc #: | 2229099 | URI: | https://ahro.austin.org.au/austinjspui/handle/1/11430 | Journal: | Journal of autonomic pharmacology | URL: | https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/2229099 | Type: | Journal Article | Subjects: | Adult Blood Pressure.drug effects Diastole Humans Kinetics Male Norepinephrine.blood Quadriplegia.blood.etiology Spinal Cord Injuries.blood.complications Systole Tritium.diagnostic use |
