dc.description.abstract | Aim Code Grey and related activity at Austin Health is documented by security staff in an external platform. A monthly summary is distributed to senior staff, and while this data is useful for auditing purposes, it does not enable real-time oversight of behavioural incidents occurring across the organisation. The aim of this project was to create a Power Bi report that allowed hospital-wide visibility of security Code Grey activity in close to real time based on location and event-type, making Austin Health safer for staff, patients and visitors. Methods In collaboration with management within the Austin Security team, we developed a standardised Microsoft form for security staff to enter all activity conducted throughout each shift. This process paralleled existing practices to ensure all data was captured during the implementation phase with no impact on service delivery. The data collected was extracted into two Power Bi reports: one report visible to all staff with activity display by location and date, without identifying patient information, the second report, visible only to security staff members, displaying all available data and is used to support handover between shifts. Results The new Microsoft form was well-accepted by Security staff who entered 100% of activity using the new Microsoft form when compared with the end of month data entered into the existing platform. This minimised data loss and improved accuracy of reporting. The ‘all staff’ Power Bi report is now in use by Patient Safety and Clinical Excellence Coordinators to display Code Grey activity to local and divisional Safety, Quality and Risk meetings. Conclusion Organisational visibility of all code grey and other security data is now available through a Power Bi report, enabling real-time appreciation of safety incidents by all staff at all times. Impact Security staff now utilising a Microsoft Form to input all activities throughout their shift. This allows all staff to see security activity related to their local areas. | en_US |
